Celebrity City Chorus is a chapter of Sweet Adelines International, a non-profit organization of approximately 20,000 members worldwide in chapters including Japan, Sweden, the UK, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. The Headquarters is in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
We are an organization of female singers who meet regularly to rehearse, socialize, perform and have fun. There are women from all over the Las Vegas Valley of all ages and walks of life.
One of the main purposes of this chorus is to take every opportunity to sing for our community. We sing at community events and various other events and venues.
In addition to sharing our music with others, another great passion is learning more about the art of ‘a cappella’ singing, particularly in the uniquely American art form of 4-part barbershop harmony.
Vocal instruction is a regular part of chorus rehearsals and a very important component of the chorus experience. At least two times a year we receive coaching from a visiting master in the art of barbershop harmony, where we learn to master the coveted barbershop "ring."
Each spring Celebrity City Chorus participates in the Region 11 chorus competition in Bakersfield, CA. These competitions are a special time for quartets and choruses from our region, which includes at least 20 other chartered choruses from central California, to come together to compete and get some constructive feedback from a panel of judges. The quartet and chorus winners of the regional competition have the opportunity to compete at the International Competition, which is held in the fall in a city selected each year.
Celebrity City Chorus has been honored to represent Region 11 six times as the champion chorus at the International contest.
